Chocolate, like Blue, is a recessive color meaning it needs a gene from each parent in order to produce a puppy of that color visually. Dogs can carry chocolate, or any other recessive color, and you have no idea without a DNA genetic test to know it. So, for years and years, we have long since believed chocolate has been bred out of the basset hound breed and could no longer be found. Well drum roll please!!!! We do believe we found a chocolate and tan! To say we are excited is an understatement to say the least! We are SOOOOO EXCITED we are actually jumping for joy!!! We will be leading the way in new basset hound colors! Because now, with chocolate and blue, we can produce lilac basset hounds! Which no one has ever seen! Wait to see what we have in store for the future!! We have BIG DREAMS and just as BIG PLANS!! A DNA test has gone out to confirm his color, and now we await the news of the results!
